For some minutes I looked at Tom Giesler anatomic illustrations. They have a clear descriptional style and some funny details
Another human who made a mission to educate the public was Fritz Kahn. A thing he took very seriously. His textbooks became a great succes at that time. Likely because he managed to translate the functions of the humanbody in a easy to understand illustration. In his piece entitled Man as Industrial Palace (scroll down), you can clearly see the hierarchy of departments within the body factory, with the center of operation located at the top of the head.
