An impressive sculpture "The Memorial to the Children Victims of the War", by academic sculptor Marie Uchytilová stands today overlooking the site of the old village of Lidice. This village in the Czech Republic just north-west of Prague was destroyed by the nazis in 1942. Together with most of its residents.

The monument comprises 82 bronze statues of children (42 girls and 40 boys) aged 1 to 16 to honour the children who were murdered at Chelmno exetermination camp in 1942.
